Whats in my bag?

Day 41

I'm a bit of a youtube addict. I watch make up "how to apply"videos and tv shows, etc. A lot of the girls who film the make up videos also film fun videos like shopping("haul") videos, monthly favorites, outfit of the day ("ootd") videos,  and of course, the ever popular "whats in my bag" video. I'm pretty technologically inept so I don't want to film because then I'd have to edit the video... And thats just not my forte... so blogging my bag contents it is!!

Bag: My new Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo in Cinnamon
Wallet: Fossil
My new Dior glasses my mom got me for my birthday which I store in my old Chanel case
(I didn't like the Dior Case)
Small Clinique make up bag with a mirror and eyedrops and my plethora of lip glosses.
L-R: Sugar tinted lip balm in Passion; Korres lip butter glaze in Quince;
Korres lip gloss in Cherry; Kiehl's  lip balm in Mango
Small pouch of lady products
Fossil coin purse; a purse hook Aleks bought me for
my bday last year that I have been meaning to use, and tissues
Hand lotion, two pens (I dunno why I need/have two), work keys and my baggu reusable bag

Damn, it seems like I am carrying a bunch of crap. I'm curious to know how much my purse weighs...

Kiwi the Hoarder

Day 40

Lately, I've noticed that Kiwi is a hoarder. Today I found her sleeping with all the grass pieces, the green ball and fake bowser!

Portland Haul!!

Day 38 Part 3

My purchases:
Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo Bag in Cinnamon: 321$ at Saks 5th Avenue (online) (PS: this purse was Bobby's birthday present for me)
Marc Jacobs Classic Q Karlie Bag in Black: 193.50$ at Saks 5th Avenue (online)
Victoria's Secret Underwear: 4 for 28$
Talula "Party Like a Pineapple" Tank: 35$ at Aritzia
Origins Frothy Face Wash: 20$ at Sephora

Total spent: 597.50

Bobby's purchases:
2L Growler filled with beer: 40$ at Deschutes Brewery
2L Growler filled with beer: 26.50 at Bridgeport Brewery
Original Starbucks Mug: 10$ at Starbucks (which was actually free courtesy of Aleks!)
Beer Log: 5$ at Powell's Books
Whiskey Log: 5$ at Powell's Books
Anthony Solutions for Men Deodorant: 15$ at Sephora (Brad is a huge fan and he talked Bobby into buying this)
12x 750mL beer: 112$ at Pearl Specialty Market

Total spent: 203.50

So in total we spent about 800$ on goods and liqour. Less than 900$ if you include the Trader Joe's pit stop we made on the way home! All in all, a great trip with great friends!

Second purchase back in Vancouver

Day 38 Part 2

I lost my umbrella on a drunken cab ride back to the hotel in Portland and unfortunately, rain is in the forecast in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Umbrella Company makes some pretty cheap and sturdy umbrellas so they've been my go to brand every time I need to buy a new umbrella.

First purchase back in Vancouver

Day 38

Very tired this morning. Got home around 10:30 last night (fairly reasonable after a long weekend trek down south) but didn't go to bed until midnight. I had to play with the hedgies and unpack the groceries first. Then I woke up around 3am with hiccups!! Wtf still suffering from the effects of beer overload from Portland!!!

Cannon Beach and Cartwheels!

Leh-gah-see

Day 33 Part 3

Bobby and the guys are at a craft beer tasting event at Legacy and I decided to tag along. Not because I like beer, but because I want to enjoy the sunshine in Olympic Village. With views like this, I am not disappointed

Wedges at a discounted price

Day 33 Part 2

I hit the shops with a girlfriend today and I found these Sam Edelman wedges on sale at the Aldo Sale Shop on Granville. Ive been wanting wedges for a while and I was planning on buying a pair in Portland but I could not pass this pair up! I think I'm running out of things to buy this weekend! Haha!

Morning coffee

Day 33

Hit up Tims today because I was too lazy to walk the extra block to Starbucks or Blenz for coffee... this mocha tastes terrible. Lesson learned :(

Wednesday, 15 May 2013

Getting ready for Portland...

Day 32

Leaving for Portland in a couple of days so I figured I should finally decide on which bag to bring...

Trying to decide if I wanna do the Lululemon backpack/shoulder bag duo or just roller luggage it... Decisions, decisions!!

PS: Apparently, my little Kiwi-Keys had a bad dream and was screaming in her sleep. Luckily Bobby was home so he went to check on her and she was fast asleep but completely spiked out. I guess little monsters have nightmares about bigger monsters? In any case, she was fine after some cat treats :)

Election Day

Day 31

One month of blogging has gone by just like that!

Its election day in BC so its time to vote! So I went to go vote like the model citizen that I am (haha) and I failed to bring my yellow card voter thing with me. I very confidently walked over to the Roundhouse thinking that's where I was supposed to vote and it turns out I was wrong. I was registered to vote in a building under the Granville Street Bridge (totally sketchy ;)) and after some confusion, I finally got my vote in!

Then I went home and:

I found Kiwi sleeping with ALL the new grass pieces. Little miss Kiwi loves her grass!! ...Mama Chaos either (a) doesn't like grass or, (b) gladly gave hers up for Kiwi, or (c) Kiwi hogged all of them because she's a pain in the ass like that. I don't know what goes on since these two are most active from 11pm to 5am but I'm pretty sure the answer is (c)

PS: Shout out to baby Luca! Happy 7 months!!!

Les miserables!

Day 30

And just like that, it is gray in Vancouver again! Apparently rain, hail and maybe even thunder showers is in the forecast today! Yikes!

Saluting all of the wonderful mothers out there!

Day 29

Happy happy happy mothers day to all the wonderful mothers out there!

The plan was to hang out in the old stomping grounds (Coquitlam) to visit my mother for mother's day. But first, 49th Parallel/Lucky's Donuts for brunch! We recently discovered 49th Parallel in Kits but then our friends told us about how the one on Main St. is even better because of their donuts! We had to check it out today!

Bobby and his tiramisu donut and mocha
I heard that the Property Brothers were in Coquitlam today so I had to see them! I love their show and I love their work. Also, they are super nice in person. And super tall! Or am I super short?!

Jonathan, me, Bobby and Drew
We headed further east to a pet store near my parents home. Bobby accidentally threw Kiwi's faux grass away when he was cleaning their cage one day. Kiwi is obsessed with that grass so we had to get her more.

At the pet store, Bobby met a cat also named Bobby.
Mother's Day dinner!

Happy mothers day to my wonderful mother! She was my first best friend ever and she's still one of my closest friends today! I am so thankful to have her in my life :)

Aaand, I can't forget the other mother in my life! Happy 2nd mother's day to Chaos! Chaos loses her shit over wet cat food which I don't let her have very often because its not good for her. However, she can't get enough of it. Kiwi doesn't care for wet cat food at all so here's Chaos enjoying her Whiskas (aka, special Mother's Day dinner) and Kiwi eating a cat treat.

De to the tox

Day 28

I've been dying to try a detox. The master cleanse (lemon juice and cayenne pepper concoction for ten days) is too hardcore and freakishly unhealthy for me... so all natural tea detox it is!

Friday, 10 May 2013

Friday night caffeine

Day 27 Part 2

After a trip to Aritzia...

Downtown, where all the lights are bright!

Day 27

I never realized how awesome the park in downtown is (the one between Seymour and Richards on Davie).

There's this super cool water fall thing that starts just off of the dog park area.

It connects via this channel like water way all the way to the other side of the park. It had a pretty strong current going. If you dropped something in the water, it would flow away from the water fall.

Plus there was a really awesome jungle gym!

I guess being a city kid isn't so bad after all :)

Catching up on literature and sunshine!

Day 26

Firstly, I love Bethenny Frankel. I loved her on RHONY and I pretty much stopped watching that show when she left (but seriously, who can stand Alex McCord and her creepy husband, Jill Zarin AND KK "I only eat natural unprocessed food, gummy bears dont count" Bensimon??). Anyway, I finally bought her book that came out last summer. Hope its good! Off to the patio to read I go

The hedgehog feeder 5000

Day 25

So we are going to Seattle/Portland for four days in less than two weeks. When  we go away for a night or two, we usually just leave the Chaoses either one or two bowls of food. However, 4 days will require much more food than that. Kiwi is round for a reason!

In January, Bobby took an engineering designing course and his final project was to design something using Solidworks. He designed a super fancy hedgehog feeder. Sadly, that feeder never came to be because it was too complicated to physically make. Apparently it would require a 3D printer, etc...

Anyway, Bobby found this not so fancy feeder at Tisol. It holds over one bag of hedgehog food (which normally lasts a month). Yay!

The not so fancy feeder.
Kiwi doesn't seem so impressed. I don't think she realizes that this is the buffet she has not yet experienced

KO'd by the dentist

Day 24

Went back to the dentist today for fillings. This is a PSA to brush and floss your teeth, kids. And to get fissure sealant!

The best part of the day was when I had to grind my teeth together to make sure that my molar bites aren't too high I accidentally bit my tongue and cheek... three needles went into that cheek so I didn't feel a thing. Needless to say, the countdown to feeling pain starts now!

My face is so swollen it looks like I got attacked by bees or something
Looks like no hot yoga for me today!

Update: its 11am, about three and a half hours after freezing. Feeling my tongue hurting now.. ahhh!

Update 2: its 12:30pm, about an hour and a half since freezing went away and omgggg my tongue hurts. Looks like I but my tongue tip really hard

Update 3: 6:00pm, my tongue tip still hurts (or "thtill hurtthhhh") and it's hot. Cold stone for dinner!

Spring has sprung!

Day 22

Looks like spring has finally sprung in Vancouver and summer is on its way. Another sunny day in 22 degree weather!
Garbage day on a Sunday?! Ruining my patio experience ;)
Kiwi enjoying some patio time

PS: Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

Seawall and sunshine

Day 21 - MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!

Yay sun!
Bobby striking a pose
Giant rock circle

Presents for Bobby!

Day 20 part 2

Bobby is a huge beer aficionado. So for our anniversary, I decided to get him some beer. His all time favorite beer is Innis and Gunn. Personally, I think the stuff is disgusting (too oaky for my liking), but hey, this present is for Bobby right?!

I hit up Viti in downtown and got him three casked Innis and Gunns (I'm sure he's tried all of this before) - one for every year I have known him (cheesy I know!) and one original.

Bottoms up, Bobby!
Oooh what's in the bag?
From left to right: Original, Winter Porter, Rum Cask with a Bobby attached, Irish Whiskey Cask

Why I love going to the dentist

Day 20

So I can catch up on my literature (read: gossip)

Not a fan of Carrie Underwood at all
However, I do love me some VB
Best book ever at my dentist's office :)
When I was younger, I had fissure sealant applied to my teeth which helped prevent cavities. Apparently, the sealant is almost completely worn out now... So I have to go back to the dentist in a few days to fill the spots that are worn out... Ahhhhh

Sophie Kinsella's new book!

Day 19

I was so pumped when I found out that Sophie Kinsella had a new book coming out last month. I've loved all of her books (minus Can You Keep a Secret - I found that to be only okay). Sad to say that this book wasn't all that great. Normally, when I get my hands on one of her books, I pretty much read it from cover to cover in one super long ass sitting because I can't put it down. This book I skimmed through a lot of the parts. As someone rated it on amazon.com: "It's champagne without the sparkle"

Excuse the pic quality. I bought the ebook so I took a pic of the cover on my laptop
I don't want to give away too much but I guess I just didn't find the characters likeable/relatable. The book is about two sisters. One (Fliss) going through a divorce so she's super bitter about men and life in general. The second (Lottie) ends a long term relationship because her bf didn't propose when she thought he was going to. With the subject of marriage obviously on the table, her bf could not commit to a lifetime together so she broke up with him. Lottie then encounters an old flame from her teenage years and on a whim they get married. Obviously, this does not sit well with bitter older sis Fliss. Blah blah blah. 500 pages later of the story being narrated from both sisters' point of views.... blah blah... The ending was very predicable

Afternoon caffeine break

Day 18 Part 2

So an hour before I was off work, my coworker rounded a bunch of us up for coffee. 45 minutes later, we get back to work and what do you know.. It's almost time to go home :)

Happy 3 years to my Bobby Boob

Day 18

So three years ago today, Bobby and I went on our first (real!) date ever. We went to Federico's on Commercial drive and it was seriously an amazing night of dining and dancing.

Bobby and I met through our mutual friend Samer. I know Samer from our days at the Canadian Cancer Society together and Bobby and Samer know each other from their days at McGill.

Back in February 2010, Vancouver hosted the winter olympics. Samer was having a party at his place (sweetest downtown apartment ever - same building as the Scotiabank theatre) and he told me to come. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go yet so I gave the nonchalant "ya ya I'll be there" RSVP. Then, the day of Samer's party, I ran into him at the Starbucks at his building. Again he asked if I was coming. I said yes. But this time I felt like I would be a jerk if I didn't go. So I went with my cousin and a friend. Turns out Bobby (who has just moved to Vancouver a month earlier) was there as well... and that is how we met.

Because it was the Olympics, a lot of alcohol was consumed that night. I like to bug Bobby and say that I dont remember the night we met when in fact, I do.

Anyway, three years later (with two adorable hedgies!) we are still together and happier everyday! Happy three years, my Bob-Bob! I love you (even though you gas me all the time!) Thank you for putting up with my crazy!
