OPI's lincoln park after dark is seriously my fave nail polish colour ever! It looks black but its actually a deep purple. Anyway, it was thunder showers earlier today. Fall is quickly approaching so I felt it is time to put away the bright neon and coral polishes and switch to dark dramatic coloured polishes!

Ten years ago today, I lost one of my best friends. Being 19 years old at the time, I experienced the tragedy of losing someone so close to you for the first time. The previous year, my paternal grandmother passed away. My grandmother lived in the Philippines so I was not close with her. Still, I was sad for my family's loss. At the same time, I understood that she was old and that it was her time to go... My friend was 19 years old and he died in a car accident. The pain of losing someone overnight, in the worst way possible, is a different kind of pain, one I would never wish on someone.

Sky, I miss you. I wish you were still here so that we could all celebrate your 30th birthday tomorrow together.

Day 144

For the past two years, Yaletown's tallest building was being constructed in front of my building. Last night, I noticed that in the town house/common area (the part of the building that is only a few stories tall) has obscenely offensive bright lights on! Super bright white lights! I don't even know WHY such bright lights are necessary. I thought, surely they must be for constructions' sake and they must have left it on by accident? Well the lights are on AGAIN tonight. It's not too much troublesome for me because the lights are mainly annoying when I am sitting in the living room, so really, I could just close the blinds... however, they must be super annoying for the people one or two floors above me who have this light shining directly in their bedrooms!

Over the weekend, Bobby noticed that the pic of us I had on my desk at home is missing. That's because it has found a new home on my desk at work. My printer is out of yellow ink so I haven't been able to print other pics!

Anyway, this pic does not really show how most of the bristles on one side of the brush are completely gone!

Sunday dim sum

Had dim sum with my family at Floata in Chinatown. We then walked around Gastown for a bit. We hit up a coffee shop next to Peckinpah and we ended up getting a free Americano because they ended up making too many drinks. We then walked towards the Convention Centre before taking the skytrain back to Chinatown to pick up our cars.

After we all parted ways, Bobby and I went to Bestbuy so that I could buy a new laptop to replace my almost 5 year old/completely outdated MacBook. I finally took the plunge and bought a decent one for less than $600.00. Yay!

Hit up Allouette Lake park with the fam today for sun and bbq fun! Its my cousin's 40th birthday next week so we got him a surprise cake. The food was delicious. Could've done without the millions of bees though :)

Left home half an hour earlier today to pick up my employee bus pass... in the pouring rain! Seriously.  The rain drops were gigantic. At working now trying to dry off...

Ja organized a ladies day out today. The plan was to have brunch at Medina Cafe and then go for pedis. Only three of us were free for brunch (pedis next time!) And Medina Cafe was soooo busy. So we hit up Flying Pig in Gastown instead. Flying Pig never disappoints :)

I got home around 1:30 from brunch with the ladies and me and Bobby did some errands. First stop was a cafe on West 7th and Ash that Bobby recently discovered. It's this small cafe located in this old heritage home that also serves Parallel 49th coffee. So we stopped there to refuel before hitting up Whole Foods (honestly, that was only my fifth time visiting Whole Foods ever!) to buy some of that iced tea that my coworker had given me. Then we hit up Home Depot/Winners/Save On/Canadian Tire for some halloween costume part shopping (Bobby likes to start early) and grocery shopping.

Ended up working overtime today (8:15-6:30). Thank goodness my coworker gave me an organic iced tea. Apparently it only cost 2 $ at Whole Foods. I'm making a mental note to buy some because it was so good!

I had a Groupon for "Deacon's Corner" that is expiring at the end of the month so Bobby and I went there for dinner tonight. The food was pretty good. We both ordered breakfast dishes since they are a diner. I saw this "sign" on their menu and I thought it was pretty funny :)

Free art show!

Day 122

Hit up the Roundhouse today for the Paper Girl exhibit. I've never been to the previous showings - Najin contributed this year so we went to check it out.

So basically, people contribute art to the organizers and some time after the show, the art are then distributed randomly throughout the city via bike couriers ("papergirls" and boys) to people on the street.

Matilda...the musical!

Day 121

I bought two tickets to the Matilda musical for my trip to New York this December. I am a huuuuge musical fan (who doesn't love the dancing and singing to happy songs?!?). Bobby isn't as big of a fan as me but we both love Matilda - such an adorable story!! Our last trip to New York, we saw the Addams Family and it was amazing!

Looks like I'm all ready for my trip! All I need to do is book my flight from Vancouver to Orlando :)

Rain, rain, go away

Woke up to pouring rain and thunder today... So I had a lazy Sunday. Yesterday, I worked (2nd to last Saturday shift ever!) and Bobby hiked the Lions (took him and his coworkers about 7.5 hours... crazies!!)... Then, we went to a friend's birthday party last night but went home early because we were both pretty damn tired.

Anyway, so woke up today and hit up Costco for some groceries. By 2pm ish, we were both still pretty tired so we napped... until 5pm. Felt so great! :)

Now I am just cleaning the apartment... and bathing the two tiny terrors:

Laser eye surgery follow up

Day 116

Last year, I had laser eye surgery to correct my vision. I went for my one year follow up today and I officially passed the exam with 20/20 vision :)

Also, my eyes are no longer as dry as they were.  Preservative free eye drops are awesome!!

I definitely recommend Lasik MD to everyone. Go for a consult to see if you are a candidate. Its worth it!!

Day 114

Left Lillooet this afternoon and I'm back home cleaning and unpacking. There's nothing thay brings the onset of post vacation blues more than having to do a million loads of laundry post trip.

Lillooet was so much fun. Such a great weekend away with friends.

So we are in Lillooet for the long weekend. We arrived last night after driving through horrendous rain during a lightning storm. Scariest drive ever!!!

Anyway we hit up Lake Seton and had an awesome picnic.... until the thunder started. It started to drizzle so we quickly packed up because we though the long awaited thunderstorm was rolling in!!

We hit up the liquor store and a grocery store on the way back. Here's Bobby and Sebastian modeling their Lillooet fashion.

Packing up a storm because a few friends, Bobby and I are heading up to Lillooet this weekend!!! Bobby, Amanda and I hit up Costco earlier and we picked up about 300$ worth of food. Hope it's enough ;)
