Catching up on literature and sunshine!

Day 26

Firstly, I love Bethenny Frankel. I loved her on RHONY and I pretty much stopped watching that show when she left (but seriously, who can stand Alex McCord and her creepy husband, Jill Zarin AND KK "I only eat natural unprocessed food, gummy bears dont count" Bensimon??). Anyway, I finally bought her book that came out last summer. Hope its good! Off to the patio to read I go

The hedgehog feeder 5000

Day 25

So we are going to Seattle/Portland for four days in less than two weeks. When  we go away for a night or two, we usually just leave the Chaoses either one or two bowls of food. However, 4 days will require much more food than that. Kiwi is round for a reason!

In January, Bobby took an engineering designing course and his final project was to design something using Solidworks. He designed a super fancy hedgehog feeder. Sadly, that feeder never came to be because it was too complicated to physically make. Apparently it would require a 3D printer, etc...

Anyway, Bobby found this not so fancy feeder at Tisol. It holds over one bag of hedgehog food (which normally lasts a month). Yay!

The not so fancy feeder.
Kiwi doesn't seem so impressed. I don't think she realizes that this is the buffet she has not yet experienced

KO'd by the dentist

Day 24

Went back to the dentist today for fillings. This is a PSA to brush and floss your teeth, kids. And to get fissure sealant!

The best part of the day was when I had to grind my teeth together to make sure that my molar bites aren't too high I accidentally bit my tongue and cheek... three needles went into that cheek so I didn't feel a thing. Needless to say, the countdown to feeling pain starts now!

My face is so swollen it looks like I got attacked by bees or something
Looks like no hot yoga for me today!

Update: its 11am, about three and a half hours after freezing. Feeling my tongue hurting now.. ahhh!

Update 2: its 12:30pm, about an hour and a half since freezing went away and omgggg my tongue hurts. Looks like I but my tongue tip really hard

Update 3: 6:00pm, my tongue tip still hurts (or "thtill hurtthhhh") and it's hot. Cold stone for dinner!

Spring has sprung!

Day 22

Looks like spring has finally sprung in Vancouver and summer is on its way. Another sunny day in 22 degree weather!
Garbage day on a Sunday?! Ruining my patio experience ;)
Kiwi enjoying some patio time

PS: Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

Presents for Bobby!

Day 20 part 2

Bobby is a huge beer aficionado. So for our anniversary, I decided to get him some beer. His all time favorite beer is Innis and Gunn. Personally, I think the stuff is disgusting (too oaky for my liking), but hey, this present is for Bobby right?!

I hit up Viti in downtown and got him three casked Innis and Gunns (I'm sure he's tried all of this before) - one for every year I have known him (cheesy I know!) and one original.

Bottoms up, Bobby!
Oooh what's in the bag?
From left to right: Original, Winter Porter, Rum Cask with a Bobby attached, Irish Whiskey Cask

Why I love going to the dentist

Day 20

So I can catch up on my literature (read: gossip)

Not a fan of Carrie Underwood at all
However, I do love me some VB
Best book ever at my dentist's office :)
When I was younger, I had fissure sealant applied to my teeth which helped prevent cavities. Apparently, the sealant is almost completely worn out now... So I have to go back to the dentist in a few days to fill the spots that are worn out... Ahhhhh

Sophie Kinsella's new book!

Day 19

I was so pumped when I found out that Sophie Kinsella had a new book coming out last month. I've loved all of her books (minus Can You Keep a Secret - I found that to be only okay). Sad to say that this book wasn't all that great. Normally, when I get my hands on one of her books, I pretty much read it from cover to cover in one super long ass sitting because I can't put it down. This book I skimmed through a lot of the parts. As someone rated it on amazon.com: "It's champagne without the sparkle"

Excuse the pic quality. I bought the ebook so I took a pic of the cover on my laptop
I don't want to give away too much but I guess I just didn't find the characters likeable/relatable. The book is about two sisters. One (Fliss) going through a divorce so she's super bitter about men and life in general. The second (Lottie) ends a long term relationship because her bf didn't propose when she thought he was going to. With the subject of marriage obviously on the table, her bf could not commit to a lifetime together so she broke up with him. Lottie then encounters an old flame from her teenage years and on a whim they get married. Obviously, this does not sit well with bitter older sis Fliss. Blah blah blah. 500 pages later of the story being narrated from both sisters' point of views.... blah blah... The ending was very predicable

Afternoon caffeine break

Day 18 Part 2

So an hour before I was off work, my coworker rounded a bunch of us up for coffee. 45 minutes later, we get back to work and what do you know.. It's almost time to go home :)

Happy 3 years to my Bobby Boob

Day 18

So three years ago today, Bobby and I went on our first (real!) date ever. We went to Federico's on Commercial drive and it was seriously an amazing night of dining and dancing.

Bobby and I met through our mutual friend Samer. I know Samer from our days at the Canadian Cancer Society together and Bobby and Samer know each other from their days at McGill.

Back in February 2010, Vancouver hosted the winter olympics. Samer was having a party at his place (sweetest downtown apartment ever - same building as the Scotiabank theatre) and he told me to come. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go yet so I gave the nonchalant "ya ya I'll be there" RSVP. Then, the day of Samer's party, I ran into him at the Starbucks at his building. Again he asked if I was coming. I said yes. But this time I felt like I would be a jerk if I didn't go. So I went with my cousin and a friend. Turns out Bobby (who has just moved to Vancouver a month earlier) was there as well... and that is how we met.

Because it was the Olympics, a lot of alcohol was consumed that night. I like to bug Bobby and say that I dont remember the night we met when in fact, I do.

Anyway, three years later (with two adorable hedgies!) we are still together and happier everyday! Happy three years, my Bob-Bob! I love you (even though you gas me all the time!) Thank you for putting up with my crazy!

Bobby's "social diet"

Day 17 Part 2

Pretty much every day, Bobby tells me how he's on a diet, or how he ate a salad for lunch, etc.
Then, stuff like this happens:

We were eating left over birthday cake. My piece is on the right. Bobby's is on the left. Take note that he added a layer nutella on his cake.

Orange has never been so offensive

Day 17

So the building going up across the alley way is almost finished construction. After dropping a 4 ft by 8 ft window frame from a crane onto a car on the street and being shut down for a week earlier in construction, and allegedly having police incidents on site as well.. this issue will certainly be the most offensive on them all

So apparently the whole townhouse/rec room part of the building is going to be covered in this lovely orange siding. All I can say is: For once I am glad I am only renting!

Ikea Round 2

Day 16

Chair shopping at Ikea makes me tired. Especially the Richmond Ikea cause it's twice the size of the Coquitlam one

Day 15

Finally got new pillows! Yes!

Birthday party part three

Day 14

Finally had my family birthday celebration today. My mom bought the yummiest chocolate cake ever from Whole Foods.

Third birthday cake this year... Lucky me!!
Where are we all looking?

After the festivities at the parentals' house in PoCo, we decided to hit up Ikea for some FroYo.

Here's Bobby double fisting his FroYo
Then we decided to hit up 49th Parellel so Bobby could buy fresh coffee grounds. Had to get a coffee too to help me stay awake for the rest of the night ;)

All in all... Good times :)

Shedding some dead weight

Day 13

Finally got a new(er) phone today. And as a result, I am about 140 grams lighter and most importantly, iphone less! Yay! Good bye, Apple!

Look at how scratched up and not taken care of my old phone was. It's almost shameful.

Sojourn to Suburbia

Day 12

So I went to Metrotown after work today because I wanted to buy the new Clinique CC Cream (it's kind of like a BB Cream 2.0). I first heard about the CC Cream a couple of months ago and it was supposed to launch mid April. Sears is currently having a Clinique bonus so I figured I would wait until the end of this month so I could get a free gift with purchase. Because Sears closed down in downtown, I called the Metrotown location yesterday to make sure they had the CC Cream in. After having the world's most painful conversation with someone who barely spoke English, I was assured (or so I thought) that Sears did indeed have the CC Cream. So I head over to Metrotown and was annoyed to learn that the CC Cream has not launched and that the launch date has been changed to mid May/early June.. Ughhhh...

I was rather annoyed having to travel kind of far mainly because I dislike having to be in Metrotown to begin with. It's always so busy and people seem to go to Metrotown just to sit around and hang out. However, I also needed vitamins, because, let's face it, I do not eat a balanced diet (haha!). So turns out, I went all that way for some vitamins.. and conditioner.

I'm totally going to be one of those old people who
places all of their medication in one basket ;)

Ready for flip flop season!

Day 11

For my birthday, Aleks, Ja and Brad got me a gift certificate for Luxe Beauty Lounge. They gave it to me Saturday night and I've been dyyyying for a mani/pedi so the plan was to go Sunday. However, I was so hungover so I decided to postpone it to a day when I could actually enjoy the experience. I went today after work. One chocolate scrub, 2 hours and fifteen minutes later...

The mani was only okay. I find that manis aren't worth it since I can paint my own nails. However it was still such a nice treat having someone else do my nails.

The pedi was AMAZING!!! Seriously the best pedi I have ever had. The water temperature in the soak wasn't scalding hot like I normally find and... best scrub ever!!!! :)

I'm ready for sunshine-y weather now!

My Kiwi

Day 10

Nothing exciting happening today. So here's my Kiwi-Keys looking like an angel while napping!
