Trick or treat... smell our... paws?

Day 173 Part 2

Last Halloween I made Kiwi and Chaos tutus so they could be ballerinas. I went to Michaels and bought fancy ribbon that resembled a skirt and hot glued it to an elastic garter thing. While I thought the skirt was cute (especially since I lack in creativity skills), I disliked the fact that it didn't have tulle, like "real" tutus.

Well this Halloween, I spotted dog tutus at London Drugs for 6$. They came in tiny sizes for tiny dogs. I didn't want to buy them at first... until I saw the exact same skirt for 10$ at a Halloween store next door! Then 6$ a skirt seemed like a deal! (Oh the logic of women!).

Kiwi and Chaos get to be "real" ballerinas and they're thrilled! (Haha not really, they hate these damn things)

Packages and organization

Day 172

I came home today to find TWO packages waiting for me at my front door. The good news is that I didn't have to make the trip down to the UPS in Yaletown to pick them up (like I normally have to do) but the bad news is that they left it at my front door!!! I live in an apartment so anyone of my neighbours could've stolen them!! (I am not very close to my neighbours).

Thankfully, none of my neighbours are thieving bastards so nothing got stolen ;)

Earlier today on my break, I picked up this super awesome desk drawer organizer! Love it already!!

PS: Happy almost hedgie-ween!!

Ghosts of Halloweens Past

Day 171

I finally got back into scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is quite expensive because 1) the supplies are expensive (the scrapbooking paper, stickers, glue gun refills, etc) and 2) printing pictures one by one is also expensive since printer ink is not cheap! When I was in Michael's on Friday, they had some Halloween stickers on clearance (starting at 90 cents a package) and I wanted to buy them but I didn't know what I would use them for. I don't know any children who would appreciate them. This weekend, I regretted not buying them because I realized I could use them for scrapbooking previous Halloween costumes!!

Bobby loves Halloween because he is extremely creative and handy - he makes a large part of his Halloween costume every year (and he carves our pumpkins every year as well). Our first Halloween together, he dressed as a Minotaur and I was Belle (kind of like Beauty and the Beast). Our second Halloween together, he went Steam Punk and I was a bumble bee. Last year, he went as an elevator and I went as Pocahontas.

I went back to Michael's today and bought some stickers and I am finally scrapbooking previous costumes. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of Bobby and I together last year. Can't wait to see how Halloween this year turns out!

Weekend deals

Day 170

I was at Michael's on Friday during my break and I saw the high heeled scotch tape dispenser in black and I knew I had to have it. However, Michael's is severely overpriced (why do you think they can afford to have a 40% off coupon every week?) Anyway, Michael's was selling these for 22$ which is ridiculous (even with 40% off) - I mean come on, its a scotch tape dispenser!!! I figured I was willing to spend 10$ TOPS for this (regular scotch tape dispensers are between 5-8$). So I hit the interwebs to see if I could get a better deal elsewhere: Amazon.ca, Staples, London Drugs, Walmart?!?! I found that Walmart had the best deal (according to their website, they are retailing for 9.99$) so my plan was to hit up with Walmart in PoCo on Sunday (yesterday) because I was going to be in PoCo to visit my family. Also, after doing more research, I found a blue stiletto scotch tape dispenser I preferred. Anyway, Bobby and I didn't end up going to Walmart, but we did hit up the Target and there I found the one I wanted on clearance for 8$!! Big score!! Happy dance all around!! Also, I got a garbage bin for 89 cents!!!

I am excited for future tape requiring projects

Also, I've been dying for a Gourmet Built lunch bag. They are super durable and awesome looking. They retail for 20$ at London Drugs, and other stores in the area I've checked out... Yesterday, they FINALLY went on sale (15$) so I am FINALLY the happy owner of one!!

Anyway, signing off on this blog of nonsense! Only I could get excited about a fancy scotch tape dispenser ;)

Chaos, mom of the century!!

Day 169
My Cakey-Cakes wins the mom of the century award for putting up with Kiwi the Terrible. Hedgehogs are territorial but because these two have lived together for Kiwi's entire existence, I guess Chaos just got used to/put up with the situation. Chaos happily sleeps in the tiny hut while Kiwi gets the giant one. Kiwi, on the other hand, is a horrible hedgie. I find her biting her mom (not enough to draw blood). She's like an emo teen going through her "I hate you/no one understands me phase".
Lately though, Chaos and Kiwi have been inseparable, sleeping beside each other, which always makes me smile. This morning I found them sleeping together in Kiwi's hut.  I gave them both a treat and put them back in their own huts. Five minutes later,  I find Kiwi sandwiched next to Chaos... and Chaos just puts up with it!!! Thank you for being a good momma, Chaos!!

Of all the tables at the bar...

Day 166

Bobby and I hit up Wings for dinner and when we got there around 6, it was pretty empty... yet I got stuck with one facing a broken TV!! The good thing is that football (NFL) was playing so I didn't care so much :)

For those extra large family get togethers!

Day 165

I hit up the Winners/Home Sense on Cambie today during my lunch break and I spotted this:

Super giant pot!
I put the much smaller pot on the right next to it for comparison. The giant pot can be yours for only 200$ but hurry!! There's only one left! I thought it was really funny that they put a security alarm thing on the pot.. The damn thing is so large, there is no way you can steal it without looking really obvious!!!

When I got back to the office, my co-worker gave me this cute little flower thing. Yay! A plant I won't kill!

You know you have been doing too much online shopping when...

Day 164

... you come home to two notices to pick up your packages waiting for you AND a package that managed to fit in your tiny mail box!!!

Round trip airfare for my package!

Day 163

So it turns out that the clothes I bought for my niece online at Gap did in fact enjoy a round trip in Canada.

What a waste of time, money, resources!!

Fall!!

Day 162

On this fall day, I headed back to the mall to pick up some tights (a necessity in Vancouver!) It was raining a little bit and I took the bus to Pacific Centre. When I left my apartment, it was only drizzling.

My plan was to take the bus to the mall (to avoid having to pay for parking since I have a bus pass!) to pick up some tights and do some shopping, then head back to the apartment, take Bobby's car and go grocery shopping. When I finally got to the mall it was pretty much pouring rain - gigantic rain drops and all.

I picked up the few things I needed and decided to be a true carless downtown Vancouverite by buying my groceries in downtown (I hit up the IGA on Robson) and then bus back with my groceries. Big mistake. But somehow.. I survived!

Its almost bedtime and I'm just checking up on my Kiwi... She was bleeding AGAIN today! A month or so ago, she had a cut on the bridge of her nose. Today she had a really small cut (so small it was like a dot) on her cheek. I don't know what my feisty little terror gets up to these days but she needs to calm down!!!!

Kiwi, unfocused
Chaos, my cutie

Saturday afternoon pumpkin peel facial, etc

Day 161 (a day late!)

I went for a facial yesterday at Luxe Beauty in Yaletown. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed. It was an organic Emminence (or whatever) facial and some of the moisturizers were supposed to be "tingly". My skin is not overly sensitive, but when I woke up today, I noticed that I had some redness on my face, no doubt due to the facial... Oh well.

Sadly, I don't have a pic for today (or yesterday) because the one pic I took yesterday looks horrible. Haha.

PS: We went to the mall after my facial and The Bay's men's floor barista was serving lattes with a shot of amaretto. So yummy!!!

Dear Canada Post

Day 160

WTF! How did my package go from Mississauga to Richmond to Vancouver... and back to Mississauga?!?!

Thursday, 19 September 2013

Merry Chrismas, Bobby! (In 3 months and 6 days!)

Day 159 part 2

Since we are going to be in New York this holiday season, I decided to buy Bobby some muggs (male uggs/motorcycle boot uggs). He really wanted to buy himself a pair last year, but they are so expensive! He got the Ugg Rockville II in the colour dune. In Vancouver, these boots retail for 275$ plus 12% tax. 300$ for boots just isn't worth it!! I wanted to buy them for his for Christmas this year so that he could have a pair of warm winter boots for NYC but I did not want to pay 300$ either. We initially planned to just head down to Portland one long weekend and buy them there (250$ tax free!) but then we found them on ebay for 150$!!! Brand new!! And only 20$ for shipping!! Honestly, ebay is the best place to shop for uggs. I got mine there for only 150$ also a couple of years ago! Anyway, so we ordered these uggs not even two weeks ago and now Bobby is the happy owner of a pair of sweet motorcycle boots!

The 80s called, they want their book back!

Day 159

Exactly one month ago today, I started this new position. Today, I finally took the time to clean out/organize my personal filing cabinet. And that it when I found this gem:

"Working with video display terminals" the 1981 edition. They seriously must've made this book when computers first came out.

This book is older than me!
Even the pictures are very 70s/80s!!!
I don't know WHY this book existed in my desk. The girl who worked this position before me is not that much older than me so this book is definitely not hers... I'm not sure who this book belongs to.. Maybe it came with the desk... From when it was first built :)

I love Sales!

Day 158

Last week, I got the memo about The Bay's Friend's and Family sale starting today. As mentioned in a previous post, I wanted to get a tote bag for work so that I could put everything in it (lunch, umbrella, etc, on top of wallet, cell phone, keys...) since I don't want to put my lunch or an umbrella in my Marc Jacobs bag and I hate having to carry an extra bag just for my lunch.

I decided to get a Kipling bag because I am not hipster enough to buy a Herschel bag and I did not want to become "the girl with a longchamp le pliage bag" like all the other "girls with longchamp le pliage bags". Plus, the Kipling one is waterproof (a must in Raincouver!!!). I got the bag in the colour Caffe Latte. I really wanted it in a brighter colour (red or pink), however, The Bay only sold it in the colour I got, black or dark brown. If I wanted it in red, I would have to buy it online and pay extra for shipping and possibly import fees and duties.

Kipling Adara in Caffe Latte. Regularly 99.00$ at the Bay. I got it at 20% off
In other news, looks like Kiwi and Chaos are no longer BFFS as they are sleeping in separate huts again... In an interesting turn of events, though, Chaos is now occupying the big hut and Kiwi the little hut... Let's see how long this rooming situation lasts for ;)

Kay-Kay in the big hut

Kiwi-Keys in the little hut

Present for Bobby!

Day 157 (a day late!)

So last night, Bobby had his branch review at work (stressful times) and then he had school after so he had a super long day. I told him I would buy him a tiramisu cupcake from Whole Foods as a treat after his long day. I went to the Whole Foods on Cambie on my lunch break and they didn't have the tiramisu cupcake. So, Bobby got a jar of nutella instead :)

Kiwi and Chaos, BFFs again!

Day 156

Last night, I found Kiwi and Chaos shoe-horned into Chaos's tiny hut together.

Kiwi's bulbous butt!
Today, I found them both snuggling in Kiwi's hut (which is much larger). Awwwwwwws <3<3<3

I spy with my little eye: two little hedgies snuggling!!!
