Ugh

Day 330

I'm allergic to the chaoses shavings... It.makes my eyes dry and really itchy. So I can't play with kiwi until we get new shavings and give them a bath :(

Sadness!

So Bobby is playing with kiwi on my behalf...

Update:
We didn't get a chance to buy new shavings.. so I still can't play with Kiwi. She must be so happy ;)

Today is the first day back in daylight savings time... ugh... But, Bobby and I met up for lunch with Marco and our friends Janice, Brad and their son Luca. It was good times because Luca is soooo adorable :)

Sushiholic

Day 329

This is seriously the BEST place to get sushi in the Lower Mainland. They are located on West Broadway and Rupert, so not really close to downtown at all... but its close to Bobby's work! I am moving to suburbia in a couple of weeks so I'm a little bit sad that I will be even further away... but maybe Bobby will be nice and get us some take out ;)

If you ever get a chance to go to Sushiholic, try the awesome roll. It's called awesome roll because it is so freakin awesome!! That's the only roll I get... and I've tried pretty much all of their special rolls.

Bobby likes the awesome roll too :)

Translink cracking down on free riders

Day 328

Today I had a bikini wax appointment in Yaletown (Frilly Lilly is the only place I will ever go to for such services and I cannot recommend this place enough!), at 10 am, and then I had an appointment to get my eyebrows did in downtown (Dona Lucia on Georgia and Richards). I was too lazy to walk to Dona Lucia so I took the Canada Line (one stop over, not worth the 2.75$ but whatever). When I got out at Pacific Centre, the Transit Police and Canada Line staff were checking for tickets for both people getting ON the train and OFF the train. Thankfully, I am too chicken shit/honest to ever ride the Canada Line (or skytrain) for free... so no fine for this lady ;)

I hit up Pacific Centre because I was looking at potential wedding dresses, etc.. still can't find "the one". Now I am home briefly to do some laundry... and am leaving soon to meet an ex-coworker for lunch.

Happy Friday!

Look out world!

Day 327

The already terrible Kiwi is officially entering her terrible twos! Hide your fingers and any other body parts she can bite... and read on if you would like to know more about the world's cutest hedgie.

Kiwi was born on March 6, 2012 (3/6/12!!) so today marks the 2nd year of her existence! Here's some photos of Kiwi (and family) over the past couple years:

The babies at 14 days old
Weighing the baby fatties. Bowser (middle) was always the biggest, then Kiwi was always the middle sized baby and Purdy was always the smallest
Bobbly head Kiwi

SO CUTE!!
Chaos stealing food from Kiwi (typical Chaos!)
Kiwi thinks that if she can't see others she is "hiding"... silly Kiwi ;)

Sleepy Kiwi
I've got so many more pictures but don't want the blog to go on and on forever!

Here's little miss Kiwi officially at two years old today:

Kiwi salutes all of you with her left hind leg

Grazie, Luongo

Day 325 (part 2)

I don't watch hockey as.... intensely (haha) as I did in seasons past, but you would have to be living under a rock somewhere in the Lower Mainland if you are not aware that Roberto Luongo go traded (back) to the Florida Panthers. I think this is great news for him because Vancouver Canucks fans can be rabid, nasty a-holes (and that is putting it nicely). They blame everything on him. Yes, Luongo has his bad games and yes he is being paid a lot of money, but he is also human.. as are his wife and his kids. How upsetting it must be to live in a city that loves to hate your husband/father.

Thanks for putting up with our crazy for 8 seasons, Luongo. For sure you will be happier in Florida :)

Pick taken from the 2009 playoffs (round 1, luongo got a shut out at this game :) )

That awkward moment....

Day 325

...when you've deleted an icon on your phone and you can't remember which one it is.... :/

Update:
After some sleuthing, I discovered that it was my Starbucks icon. It's likely protesting because I haven't gone to Starbucks in a while...

Two of my three loves

Day 324
The third being Chaos!
Here's Kiwi hanging on to Bobby... Kiwi turns two in three days! Where has the time gone?

Eye drop shortage??

Day 323

Last night, I made lemon chicken for dinner and I got flour in my eyes (ugh!!). And I only had a little bit of eye drops left. So I used what I had and planned on hitting the store this morning...

Side note: I only use preservative free eye drops. I've always had dry eyes and after laser eye surgery, I have had to put drops in them regularly... I found that my eyes were still dry even with drops so a pharmacist recommended preservative free eye drops. Life. Changing. Suggestion.

Anyway, there are only two options I've seen in Vancouver and for whatever reason, they were sold out at London Drugs (on Broadway and Ash) and Save On (Cambie and 7th). Seriously. After hitting two stores, we went home to eat breakfast/lunch and my eyes were sooo itchy. We went to the London drugs on Davie and I finally got drops after lunch and my eyes are finally in recovery.

Happy Sunday :)

This is the Vancouver I love

Day 321

Today was a gorgeous day! 10 degrees in the afternoon and sunny! I really hope spring is near... especially after the three consecutive wet snow says we had last weekend!

Chaos, forever homeless

Day 319
Occasionally, I find chaos sleeping under their wheel. Today, I found her sleeping under the water bottle. Go home, kaykay, you're drunk!

First world problem

Day 318

So on Sunday, I brought my coffee mug (with coffee!!) to my brothers house since the gold medal game was so early. Well I accidentally left it there... and my brother is away this week.... So I am borrowing Bobby`s mug.

You think I would be grateful but because us first wordlings can always find something to complain about... I am annoyed that Bobby`s mug permanently smells and tastes like espresso. It's ruining my tea!! Bobby only drinks cold coffee so he ends up leaving his coffee in the mug for hours at a time... which is why it perpetually tastes like coffee. Ugh

Pasta gratin...

Day 317

...Which is just a fancier term for "baked macaroni" ;)

This used to be one of my favourite dishes my mom used to make when I was a kid. I tweaked the recipe a little bit (instead of using tomato paste, I used pasta sauce - Classico's Four Cheese to be exact - because tomato paste is quite sour).... I hope it tastes good because I am hungry!!!

Update: its so yummy!!!

Reminiscing about the gold medal game in 2010...

Day 316 (part 2)

This year, because the game started SO early, we decided not to go to a bar because while the bars either remained open from the night before, or decided to open really early, they were not serving alcohol thanks to BC's super strict liquor laws. We were going to stay home and watch it, but then decided to go to my brother's because its so much more fun to watch hockey with others!

Last winter Olympics, my cousin, a friend of mine and his friends hit up Yaletown Brewpub. My friend had gotten in line at 7am or so for their 9 or 10am opening. Thank you, Samer, for holding a spot in line for us. Needless to say, we had amazing seats!!

That gold medal game was a lot more intense (it went into OT after the Americans scored to tie the game late in the third). However, good ol' Sid scored into OT!!

Here is our receipt from that day:

47 lagers! Woo hoo!!

Go Canada go!!!

Day 316

And so it's the end of another Olympics. To be honest, I wasn't into this year's Olympics. Maybe it's cause the last winter Olympics were in Vancouver... Maybe it's because it was in Russia and it wasn't right to support a country who refused their own citizens basic human rights? But at the end of the day, all the athletes deserve our support for their lifetime of hardcore training for a chance to perform in their sport. Plus, let's face it, Canada won a bunch of medals to start and it was very hard to not get into it!!

The gold medal game was due to start at 4am. Last night around ten pm, we bought some beer (Molson Canadian) and then some some Timbits for our Canadian themed hockey party at my brothers. I hit the hay around 11 pm and my alarm was set for 3 am. We left our place around 3:50 and walked to my brothers carrying all of stuff in the (wet) snow.

Team Canada did not disappoint us! They won 3-0. The Olympics are a little hard to watch when it comes to hockey. Of course I am cheering for Canada 100% but since there are so many Canucks playing for other countries, you feel a little bad when they lose... in saying that, sorry Daniel Sedin and Alex Edler ;)

Early morning (or is it super late evening?) brew

Eenie meenie miney mo...

Day 315

The vault of gear from Olympics past has opened... the question remains: what should I wear for tomorrow's big game?

I actually got another red Canada shirt from this year's Olympic collection but I thought it would be fun to bring out the gear from Vancouver/Whistler 2010 :)

Left to right: "I heart hockey" shirt from Lululemon, "Canada" shirt from The Bay, "Canuck" shirt from The Bay.

Kiwi doesn't like to be exposed...

Day 314 (part 2)
...So I hid her under a tissue... she felt safe after ;)

Olympics recap part two

Day 314

Today is my day off... I woke up to the news that Men's Curling won gold (wooohooo!) AND Canada won gold AND silver and women's ski cross!! Yay!! Go Canada go!!!

I watched the men's semi finals.. Canada vs. USA... Such a nail biting game! In the end, the better country won! Looks like I'll be up and at them very early on Sunday morning ;)

Going to venture out of the apartment now... Blog picture and post to come later!
