Kiwi's first beer

Day 292

Totally kidding of course. She actually hates the smell of beer and she moves away from it.

Wednesday 29 January 2014

Free coffee

Day 291

I stopped by Starbucks this morning (Cambie and Broadway location) and a very nice man called Derek left his gift card to pay for the orders of the next three people. He was two people ahead of me so by the time I ordered, he was already gone and I couldn't thank him. But what a randomly kind gesture. Thank you, Derek, for showing me (and others) that there are still some kind hearted people left on our planet.

Unicorns and rainbows

Day 290

Firstly, I can't believe my year of blogging is nearing its end!! Thank you to anyone (Bobby!) who reads my blogs of nonsense.

Anyway, today,  I helped my coworker with something and he thanked my by emailing a picture of unicorns and rainbows. Unicorns. And. Rainbows. So random but I likey and now I feel the urge to colour.

The 20$ homemade Valentine present challenge

Day 289

This year, I told Bobby that we had to make each others' Valentine's Day present and that we cannot spend more than 20$ on this. Bobby can't make things without buying new tools (sometimes, I think he starts projects just so he can buy new tools) but I told him if he spent any money on tools, it would count against the 20$ we were allowed to spend.

Today I bought the supplies I need for Bobby's present. I can't wait to make it (thank you Pinterest!!!). I can't upload a pic since Bobby is my one and only follower. I'll be sure to blog about the present after I give it to him though :)

In the mean time, here is my Kiwi Keys chilling out in her towel.

Best hangover cure

Day 288

So... I was pretty hung over from Janice's birthday party. It was at Clough Club which is a fancy cocktail place in Gastown. We all had sooo much fun. But yea I went to bed feeling sick and woke up feeling sick... ugh...

My new hangover cure is waking up semi early (eg.. not being lazy and waking up at noon even if I didn't hit the hay until 330am), going to Granville Island for some calamari (mmmmm), then walking to Parallel Forty Nine for some caffeine and donuts. I felt soooo much better after all the fresh air.

Left to right: Bobby got the bacon apple maple donut, I got the cinnamon sugar and Marco got the tiramisu.

Saturday 25 January 2014

Best eggs benny in downtown!!

Day 287

Today is my friend Janice's 30th birthday party. Since she is a knitting fiend, her husband requested that we buy her yarn. Her favorite store is all the way on the other side of Vancouver... but we made sure to stop for Milestone's California eggs benny (with shrimp, bacon and guacamole). Its sooooo good!!

Friday 24 January 2014

Blenz still has their Christmas cups...

Day 286

...which proves to me that no one likes Blenz ;)

This morning, I had a bikini wax at Frilly Lilly at 10am. Afterwards, I hit up Blenz (a 20 feet walk away) to wait for Najin because we had plans to go wedding dress shopping! Woo hoo! What a great way to spend my Friday off :)

So Najin came and got me around 10:45 and we drove to New Westminster. We hit up two wedding dress stores. It was pretty fun, but also exhausting, trying on dresses. Some are just so heavy!!

A post it note

Day 285

(Explanation to come by next weekend)

Wednesday 22 January 2014

The bare mimimums for my wedding

Day 284

Earlier this week, I finally cracked my new only for wedding notes notebook open and made a list of things we need to do for our wedding. I never realised how much you need to plan and how expensive certain aspects of a wedding are (wedding offociants can cost up tp 1200$!! I am in the wrong profession clearly!!)

Tuesday 21 January 2014

My kind of wine glass

Day 283

For those stressful days/weeks of work ;)

Monday 20 January 2014

Monday night dinner

Day 282

I've started meal planning for the week before grocery shopping because I find that it prevents me from wandering the grocery store aimlessly.

On the plate (actually, in the bowl tonight): chicken stir fried with broccoli, mushrooms and orange pepper. Served with rice. Yummy :)

A Kate Spade Haul

Day 281

Chapters started selling Kate Spade New York stationery, and The Bay (downtown location) has been selling Kate Spade items for a while. I've been eyeing some pieces, but they are pretty damn pricey so I haven't bought anything... until now.

The first piece was the storage box. Before Christmas, I got a 20$ Chapters giftcard so I used the giftcard for the purchase. This box only cost me 16 cents of my own money. #win!

Floral, when done tastefully, looks girly in a fun way, and not in an outdated, way
The inside is polka dots!
Thankfully,  I had some American coins on me when I went to buy this box because I usually never have cash on me and for a second, I was worried I would have to put 16 cents on Visa or debit (haha). Side note, the box is amazing quality. Normally, when you buy storage boxes like this, they aren't such great quality.

The second purchase was the candle. I went on The Bay's website a week or so ago and they were clearing out these candles. They are regularily 40$, on clearance for 12$. Unfortunately, I had to pay shipping fees, so the candle cost 20$ in total. I plan on using the box and candle for a girly area when Bobby and I move into out new place (still looking but we found a place we both love and we are thinking of moving forward in buying this one).

I thought the candle holder was cute. The candle scent is not that great. I'm not a candle person in general thou
The last purchase was the polka dot notebook. I had been eyeing this notebook ever since Chapters launched their Kate Spade New York line. The notebook is 14$ which I think is ridiculous for a notebook!! However, I decided to buy it after all. Since I am wedding planning, I wanted a cute notebook to write some notes down in (I am forever old school, and will forever be buying paper agendas, etc, to wrote in!!)

I can't wait to fill this notebook with my wedding ideas!

Sojourn to suburbia

Day 280

We went to Coquitlam today for more apartment hunting. We were supposed to meet our realtor at Coquitlam Centre... so as per usual, I hit up Target (I was good and I didn't buy anything).

When I got out of the car, I noticed that our Kiwi and Chaos stickers had fallen off. Sadness :(
Super giant umbrella at Target!

Well now she's done it!!!!

Day 279 (a day late!)

Didn't blog last night because I took one pic using Bobby's phone... and then I got too lazy to transfer it to my computer, etc... #firstworldproblems

Anyway, little miss Chaos is the weirdest hedgehog ever. Their food bowl feeder thing is up against the cage of the wall and EVERY DAY she pushes it over just a bit so she can sniff behind it... on her way to take a crap underneath the wheel. She does this EVERY DAY without fail. I've always been scared that one day she would knock the whole thing over and she would hurt herself or Kiwi... Well last night she finally did it. She knocked the whole damn thing over like the bully that she is... Thankfully no hedgies were injured...

If I haven't said it before: Chaos is the hedgehog who's name is also an adjective to describe her. This hedgehog is crazy chaotic!

Om nom nom

Day 278

Someone left these in the kitchen at work. Uh oh...

Wednesday 15 January 2014

Drug store shopping spree...

... or not!!

Day 277

I get an hour and 15 minute break every day and sometimes, its just too damn long. You can only to Michaels or Winners so much before everything becomes bland... anyway so I spiced up today's break by hitting up shoppers. I specifically only buy biolifes mango tangerine all purpose cleaning spray because its all natural and it smells nice. I also only specifically buy it when its on sale (and it was today! Woo hoo).

Anyway, since I was out on the town,  I also bought cat treats for my two non-cat hedgies and foil because Bobby likes to bbq things and we go through a lot of foil. #livinglarge

Ps: I knew foxes were cool even before the what does the fox say song came out as evidenced by my fox bag

Tuesday 14 January 2014

Caprica

Day 276

Bobby and I have been watching Caprica, a sci fi show shot in Vancouver 4+ years ago before getting cancelled. The show goes on and on about the infinity symbol representing the STO (or something like that)... and it turns out that the STO lives on in downtown, Vancouver ;)

Monday 13 January 2014

Starbucks' Caramel Flan Latte

Day 275

Monday's are always rough. Because I get every second Friday off, the Monday's after my Fridays off are usually the most rough (when is it ever easy to go back to work after a 3 day weekend?)

So I stopped by Starbucks on my way to work and I noticed that they have a new drink on their menu: Caramel Flan Latte. I decided to try it and I made two mistakes: 1, I didn't ask to have it half sweet and 2, I didn't ask for no whip (I don't like whip cream). This drink is SOOOO sweet. Seriously. You can almost feel diabetes setting in... So to sum up, I would NOT recommend this drink!

Sunday 12 January 2014

Toby was here

Day 274

Toby accidentally left one of his toys behind when he visited. Kiwi is sizing up his toy which is slightly larger than her...

Welcome to Vancouver

Day 273 (part 2, a day late)

Yesterday, Bobby and I were at YVR (my 4th visit to YVR in as many weeks!) to pick up his brother who will be in town for the next few months (we are hoping for longer!).

We decided to hold a small get together (small because our place is small!). We squeezed in 10 people, one dog (and two hedgehogs) into our pad to welcome Marco into Vancouver. It was a tight squeeze but we all had a great time!

The first place we brought Marco to was Parallel 49 so that Bobby got refill his growlers for the party. Marco picked up this beer and it is SOOOO good. I don't like dark beers but this one went down smoothly and was a hint sweet.
Najin brought her little fluff ball Toby. We LOVE Toby
In inseparable fatty news....

I found Kiwi and Chaos sleeping like this yesterday. That's Kiwi's ass that is exposed!

Saturday 11 January 2014

Inseparable fatties

Day 273

Yesterday, I noticed that my fatties have been inseparable (forcing themselves into the smaller hut to sleep in).

Yesterday: Chaos on the outside.. Kiwi on the inside (so cute that they sleep belly to belly!)
Yesterday: Eventually, Kiwi found herself on the outside...
This morning, I found Chaos sticking out of the hut so much that only her head was inside (I thought the purpose of sleeping in the hut was to conceal themselves from danger, like predators....?!)

Oh hey there Kay Kay
Kiwi says: What are you looking at?!

Friday 10 January 2014

Making dinner for the fiance

Day 272

I accidentally deleted this blog post (ugh!) so I am re-doing a much shorter version again:

Slow cooked pulled pork with pineapples! So yummy!

Thursday 9 January 2014

14 love notes

Day 271

Trying to find a creative way to scrapbook all 14 advent calendar notes (yes 14, nrxt year I am requesting for 24. I seriously looked forward more to these notes moreso than the chocolates!).

Bobby wrote on both sides of the paper so I can't just glue these down.... hmmm....

Wednesday 8 January 2014

Rain, rain, go away

Day 270

Pouring rain is in the forecast for the next week or so. Ugh!

Tuesday 7 January 2014

Man down!

Day 269

I decided to finally get on scrapbooking my winter holiday festivities. 4 days at Disney World (with a medieval show and a luau) and 4 days in Manhattan (with a broadway show, a proposal, New Years Eve, etc), I had a lot of scrapbooking to do!

Its really a shame that I picked today of all days to slice my thumb on my paper cutter! Its a pretty deep cut. I don't know how I am managing to stay calm (and blog!). The bleeding has yet to stop... for now, I've got three bandaids on... Let's see how long it lasts...

Monday 6 January 2014

22 months old today

Day 268 (part 2)

My baby fatty is 22 months old today!!! Two more months until she is 2!!!

Pics by the pros

Day 268

So we got the pics from the photographer today! Woo hoo!! Here are a few shots. I want to say a HUUUGE thank you to Paparazzi Proposals again for capturing this moment in our lives :)

We started the day ice skating. I really wanted someone to take a photo of my and Bobby ice skating together, but I didn't know who I could ask/trust with a camera... You never know in Manhattan ;)
I seriously had no idea we were being followed all over Central Park. Looking back, I feel like such a celeb now!
Happiest moment of my life (so far!)
Yay New York!

Sunday 5 January 2014

A walk in the park

Day 267 (part 2)

We met up with Brad, Janice and Luca at Pacific Spirit Park today. We enjoyed a nice short walk along the trails. The weather was gorgeous - it was sunny but a bit cold. We all hit up Alibi Room and a few more friends showed up. We ended up eating dinner there as well.

Chaos snuggles

Day 267

I woke up early today (still kind of suffering from the slight time change difference) and I found teeny tiny Chaos snuggling with Kiwi. I LOVE how her teeny tiny leg is on top of Kiwi.... ahhh I love my hedgies!!

Saturday 4 January 2014

Friday 3 January 2014

First day back on the West Coast

Day 265

Technically, I was back on the best (I mean, west) coast yesterday but today is my first full day home. I had to work today and work is busssy but its nice to get back intp the groove :)

I love Manhattan and New York will always have a special place in my heart. (Bobby and I spent our first anniversary in New York and we got engaged in New York!!) However, not even the tallest building or the most gigantic real Christmas tree ever in Manhattan can even begin to compare with Vancouver's North Shore maintains!

Thursday 2 January 2014

De-iced

Day 264

Sitting in the San Francisco airport (leeching wifi off of Bobby because their wifi sucks!)... finally made it after a one hour and 20 minute delay at JFK because all planes needed de-icing. We travelles 4100+ km and back three time zones. Next stop: Vancouver!

Wednesday 1 January 2014

Last day in NYC

Day 263

Firstly, Happy 2014 everyone!!

The last day of this trip was reserved for shopping. My mom requested a New York City tote bag, my dad wanted a New York Yankees shirt (Jeter) and I also bought my mom and my brother some candy from the M&M store. For myself: I bought a sweater from Aritzia and a mug from Starbucks.

Shopping haul

Cake Boss on Times Square!
