Bobby's "social diet"

Day 17 Part 2

Pretty much every day, Bobby tells me how he's on a diet, or how he ate a salad for lunch, etc.
Then, stuff like this happens:

We were eating left over birthday cake. My piece is on the right. Bobby's is on the left. Take note that he added a layer nutella on his cake.

Orange has never been so offensive

Day 17

So the building going up across the alley way is almost finished construction. After dropping a 4 ft by 8 ft window frame from a crane onto a car on the street and being shut down for a week earlier in construction, and allegedly having police incidents on site as well.. this issue will certainly be the most offensive on them all

So apparently the whole townhouse/rec room part of the building is going to be covered in this lovely orange siding. All I can say is: For once I am glad I am only renting!

Ikea Round 2

Day 16

Chair shopping at Ikea makes me tired. Especially the Richmond Ikea cause it's twice the size of the Coquitlam one

Sunday 28 April 2013

Happening tonight:

Day 15

Finally got new pillows! Yes!

Saturday 27 April 2013

Birthday party part three

Day 14

Finally had my family birthday celebration today. My mom bought the yummiest chocolate cake ever from Whole Foods.

Third birthday cake this year... Lucky me!!
Where are we all looking?

After the festivities at the parentals' house in PoCo, we decided to hit up Ikea for some FroYo.

Here's Bobby double fisting his FroYo
Then we decided to hit up 49th Parellel so Bobby could buy fresh coffee grounds. Had to get a coffee too to help me stay awake for the rest of the night ;)

All in all... Good times :)

Shedding some dead weight

Day 13

Finally got a new(er) phone today. And as a result, I am about 140 grams lighter and most importantly, iphone less! Yay! Good bye, Apple!

Look at how scratched up and not taken care of my old phone was. It's almost shameful.

Sojourn to Suburbia

Day 12

So I went to Metrotown after work today because I wanted to buy the new Clinique CC Cream (it's kind of like a BB Cream 2.0). I first heard about the CC Cream a couple of months ago and it was supposed to launch mid April. Sears is currently having a Clinique bonus so I figured I would wait until the end of this month so I could get a free gift with purchase. Because Sears closed down in downtown, I called the Metrotown location yesterday to make sure they had the CC Cream in. After having the world's most painful conversation with someone who barely spoke English, I was assured (or so I thought) that Sears did indeed have the CC Cream. So I head over to Metrotown and was annoyed to learn that the CC Cream has not launched and that the launch date has been changed to mid May/early June.. Ughhhh...

I was rather annoyed having to travel kind of far mainly because I dislike having to be in Metrotown to begin with. It's always so busy and people seem to go to Metrotown just to sit around and hang out. However, I also needed vitamins, because, let's face it, I do not eat a balanced diet (haha!). So turns out, I went all that way for some vitamins.. and conditioner.

I'm totally going to be one of those old people who
places all of their medication in one basket ;)

Ready for flip flop season!

Day 11

For my birthday, Aleks, Ja and Brad got me a gift certificate for Luxe Beauty Lounge. They gave it to me Saturday night and I've been dyyyying for a mani/pedi so the plan was to go Sunday. However, I was so hungover so I decided to postpone it to a day when I could actually enjoy the experience. I went today after work. One chocolate scrub, 2 hours and fifteen minutes later...

The mani was only okay. I find that manis aren't worth it since I can paint my own nails. However it was still such a nice treat having someone else do my nails.

The pedi was AMAZING!!! Seriously the best pedi I have ever had. The water temperature in the soak wasn't scalding hot like I normally find and... best scrub ever!!!! :)

I'm ready for sunshine-y weather now!

My Kiwi

Day 10

Nothing exciting happening today. So here's my Kiwi-Keys looking like an angel while napping!

Monday 22 April 2013

Having my cake and eating it too!

Day 9

Finally enjoying the cake that went uneaten at the party! Tuxedo cake is my favorite cake!

In totally unrelated news: here's Chaos and nerf gun!

Sunday 21 April 2013

Feeling my age....

Day 8

So Bobby threw me the best birthday party ever last night, complete with what I think was an impromptu nerf gun shoot out. Everyone really got into it. I had a great time celebrating my birthday and also the end of the semester!

Best part of the night was after I blew out my candles, all of a sudden the nerf gun war started which meant no one got to enjoy the cake! Everyone was too into shooting at each other and there on the table, the cake sat lonely...

Here's the slightly mangled cake today. It will be cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner I guess :)

Needless to say, I am more than slightly hung over today.

PARTY!!

Day 7 (a day late!)

Exams are finished and I finally had a chance to celebrate my birthday

Because no good party ever started over warm cups of tea

PS: HAPPY 4/20!!!!

Friday 19 April 2013

Dining in the dark...

... and not because the power's out!

Day 6

So we dined at Dark Table (in Kits) tonight for Brad's 30th birthday. It was definitely an awesome experience and I can honestly say that I appreciate my vision a lot more than I did before... The entire place was pitch black for the entire meal (2 hours for 14 people) and your eyes did not adjust as it normally would when you are in the dark at home... Things got especially spooky when people (*ahem* Angel, Bobby and Dmitry) started to walk around the table to freak people out.. All in all, good fun!
The Dark Table banner... backwards!

Thursday 18 April 2013

Almost finished the semester!

Day 5

I had my second to last final today! Bobby ended up having to go to his job site just off of campus first thing this morning so I got a ride to school today too (yay!). I took this pic of my textbook for this course so I can sell it on Craigslist. Any buyers?!?

Wednesday 17 April 2013

Dr. Jenn to the rescue!

Day 4

So Chaos gave me a mild heart attack today... I gave her and Kiwi a cat treat (like always!) and today, Chaos' got stuck on her palate!!! She didn't make any choking sounds or motions so I didn't notice at first but when I gave her another treat and she didn't want it, I got suspicious (this is so unlike Chaos cause Chaos will eat everything you put in front of her). So I noticed the cat treat stuck on her palate and attempted to dislodge it with a q-tip. I managed to get some out but at the end, her salivary enzymes  dislodged the rest. I put her back in her cage and she drank water for what seemed like 2 minutes (haha!). And so my first patient survives!

Chaos and q-tip
Later on in the day:

One of the other things on my bucket list is to run my first 10k... you know... in one go... and not over a few small runs :) So I thought today would be great to get started for light training

Now I am back home and getting organized. Have a final exam tomorrow and I really should hit the books

Tuesday 16 April 2013

Blank slate...

Day 3

Can't decide which colour to choose! First world problems right?!

PS: My camera is horrendous. Will finally be getting a new (used!) phone in the next month. Yay!

Monday 15 April 2013

Fake Bowser, the dryer ball

Here's Chaos hiding behind Fake Bowser. I bought Chaos and Kiwi the hedgehog shaped dryer ball last year in Portland because I didn't know what else to get them as a souvenir (they don't really like toys). We named the dryer ball Fake Bowser in memory of Bowser, the third hedgie baby we sold on craigslist.

UBC Vancouver - the campus that is perpetually under construction

Day 2

So apparently, UBC has an excess of money they are just dying to spend because every year, there's always construction going on. Whether its old buildings being torn down, or old buildings being revamped or new buildings erected in the forever shrinking parking lots, there is never a shortage of the number of reasons construction on campus can annoy you.

Here's a pic of the future SUB. I know a girl who sits in the Arts Undergrad Council and apparently the idea of having an indoor slide was thrown around for a bit. I don't know if the slide idea was ever taken seriously or if it will be a part of the new SUB but the idea of a slide is only cool until the first rainy day of fall.

Sunday 14 April 2013

Sunshine on my birthday!

Day 1

Living in Vancouver means a chance of rain at least 300+ days of the year. Since I am a spring baby, it's usually cold and/or damp on my birthday. But today: SUNSHINE! Better make the most of it :) The plan was to walk across the Granville Bridge to hit up the shops in South Granville, stop on Granville Island for some grub (SEAFOOD!), and then take the foot ferry back to Downtown.

The view from the Granville Bridge at 11:30 am (Still a little gloomy and gray)
Mandatory caffeine break
One of my favorite parts about Granville Island is the random,
useless things you can buy! Ya handerpants!
Walking down to the foot ferry
Ferry!

On the ferry ride
Back in downtown - Bobby walking home along the seawall. Sunny and warm at 3:30!

PS:
I had fun last night at the triple birthday bash for myself, Radek and Tania. Thank you so much to Tania and Denisa for organizing the event! Denisa and Radek got me this cute herb planter thing. I am definitely not a green thumb so I will have to add "learn how to not kill plants" on my bucket list ;) Can't wait to see how this turns out!

PPS:
HAPPY 6 MONTH-DAY, LUCA! I am exactly 28 years and 6 months older than you!!

Saturday 13 April 2013

Awkward family photo potential

Here's a sneak peak of photos to come:

Here's Bobby and I with sweet, baby Luca (Our friends Brad and Janice's almost 6 month old son). Last year while on vacation in Banff, Bobby spotted the adult onesie and he just had to have one. While browsing around one of the many souvenir shops on the Banff strip, I spotted the matching baby onesie on sale for 15$. Janice was still pregnant at the time but the onesie was super cute so we bought it for Luca anyway. I started feeling a bit left out so I bought a red plaid shirt with the plan that we were all going to take a red plaid picture together. As you can see, Luca has already outgrown his onesie, but he was such a trooper and he toughed it out for our photo shoot:

365 photos in 365 days challenge

Hello! and thank you for stopping by my small, personal space in the interwebs!

Tomorrow is my 29th birthday and I've decided to create a bucket list of things to do before I turn 30 (ahhh!)

One of the things on my list is to join in on the 365 photos in 365 days challenge. I read about this challenge on Facebook. Basically, you take one photo every day for 365 days and post it for others to see. I decided to take this challenge up a notch and blog about every day of my 29th year of existence as well.

Hope you enjoy the photos I share throughout the next 365 days. I'll quickly just point out that the only camera I currently own is the one with my Iphone 4. The lens is scratched so unfortunately, the quality of photos will not be the greatest until I finally upgrade my phone (or buy a new camera) in the near future.

Thank you for stopping by! :)
