Ready, set, unpack, organise, clean!

Day 344

Today was semi rough to begin with. I really just wanted to shower but it took forever to find my shower curtain... Then my shampoo... Then my still missing loofah. #firstworldproblems

Anyway, we managed to unpack quite a bit and sort through lots of boxes. We then met with with our landlord around 130 to return the keys to the old place. Well, technically Bobby met with our landlord while I went to Pacific Centre to pick up that vase I mentioned in Friday's post. I'll blog about that another time.

We got back home around 3pm and we had our first guests come over post move: Janice, Brad and Luca!!! Luca is as adorable as ever and it was nice to have people over and have tons of space (even though there are boxes everywhere and a lack of furniture...). Luca had a blast running around and checking out the new place :)

Another day has come to an end. Still unpacking... thankfully, I took tomorrow off... so I have one extra day to organize the kitchen, and my closet and my desk!

Pooped

Day 343

So moving today was such a breeze. We woke up at 6 am and packed up a bit more. Then we went to Port Moody to pick up the truck and headed back to downtown. I hit up Starbucks for some breakfast sandwiches and Caffe Artigiano for coffee (for our moving crew of 6).

Everything went smoothly. Seriously. It was laughable how quickly we got the truck loaded (an hour and twenty minutes) and unloaded (about an hour? I missed this part due to miscommunication with my mom and picking up pizza).

We were done eating lunch by one. No joke. Bobby and I then had to pick up a bed we're borrowing from my mom for the guest room and then we headed back to downtown to clean out the old place. Again it was a breeze. I cleaned the bathroom and wiped the surfaces down and emptied the fridge, etc while Bobby spackled the walls and threw out the garbage.

Back to the new place now and really exhausted. Just wanted to share the one pic I took today...

I hate moving

Day 342

So tomorrow is moving day and we've rented a truck and somehow convinced a few friends to help us move. Did I ever mention I hate moving? It's seriously the worst thing in the world. First you have to pack and purge all of your belongings. Then you have to clean up your new place. Then you have to transport all said belongings x number of kilometres over to your new place. Then you have to unpack all of your belongings and reorganize everything. Then you have to clean out your old place. All while not losing your mind... there really needs to be a support group for people who hate moving. Then the entire world can just get together and complain about our grievances with moving.

I wish we could move like the Sims. Every time they move, they manage to sell all of their furniture at a reasonable price and just buy all new furniture that is more suited to the new place ;)

Anyway, I'm on a time crunch. I've a facial appointment at 1030 and a lunch date with a friend at noon. Then I gotta go home and pack and seal boxes and clean up before dinner with some high school friends at 630. Somewhere in between I would like to run to the mall and pick up a vase I've been eyeing....

A new place to call home

Day 341

Back in January, we bought a place in Coquitlam because we were sick of our tiny rental in downtown. While I love the location of our current place, we knew we had to move on and because places in downtown are super expensive, we decided to move to suburbia. I kind of hinted about the move back in this post, but I never actually got around to talking about it... I did talk lots about shopping for our new place though ;)

Anyway, so we bought an almost 1000 square foot, 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment in Westwood Plateau. I grew up around the area and it really is a great community for families. There are lots of good schools nearby for future kids and its also close to grocery store and Coquitlam Centre, etc.

Today, we picked up the keys from our realtor. It was so awesome! We literally bought this place almost two months ago, and even though we took lots of pictures, you almost forget what the place actually looks like. It was nice to see it again ;)

We met our realtor around 2pm, and they left around 2:30. We hit up Target to buy a few things we forgot to bring to clean the house. We had planned to spend a good few hours to clean the place since it was a great time to do so - there was no furniture in this place whatsoever. We also decided to move Kiwi and Chaos in today because I didn't want to have to bring them during the what is likely going to be a stressful move on Saturday. For now, they are chilling out in the master bedroom walk in closet (it'll be nice and cozy in there for them!)

I gave the fridge and bathrooms a good scrubbing down. Bobby mopped all of the floors and cleaned the windows. We were smart and brought some dishes and glasses, so while we were cleaning, I ran the dishwasher twice to wash those... and now they are spic and span for Saturday ;)

Below are pics for the new place... a place that is going to be a work in progress until we truly make this new apartment our home :)

Bobby brought Kiwi and Chaos in to work today... He came and got me around 1pm at my work and we drove to Coquitlam. When we got to the new place, I decided to give Kiwi a "driving lesson" while we waited for our realtor ;)
Bobby in our new kitchen. YES! Finally lots of counter space and cupboards (this kitchen is huge compared to downtown, Vancouver standards ;)
Dining room and living area (sorry the pic is dark!) The neon green room is a bedroom (more below)
This is the smallest bedroom and will be Bobby's future work area. He has lots of plans for this room
This is the second biggest room and will be a future kid's room. For now, it will be Marco's domain
This is Bobby's bathroom/the main bathroom
Master bedroom. I love that nook area!
This is the master bathroom... Finally! We will no longer have to share a bathroom ;)
Kiwi exploring Marco's room... she was super excited!!
Now, we are back in downtown, exhausted from all of the cleaning. There is still some packing left to do! But I need to relax and rest (and blog!) first!

The Bay Haul

Day 340

Today, I got invited to The Bay's VIP sale (an extra 25% off of regular, sale and clearance priced items). Now I know people hate on department stores... but seriously, The Bay downtown is awesome! They carry some of my favorite brands (J Brand and Free People) and they have an amazing selection on housewares and linens.

The first thing I had to do was return a dress I got online. The Free People "La Mamounia" dress in beige. It was just such a hideousity I could not imagine paying 170$ with taxes for that dress. It looked like it was worth 40$ at most. So I took that back and picked up the "Mallary's Battenburg Tee" instead. I love this
shirt!
I got it in Raspberry... You can see how the shirt actually looks here

Now that personal shopping was out of the way, it was time to stock up on pillows! We picked up a couple of these pillows a while ago and they are soooo awesome! They are fairly firm, yet soft... and they don't go flat or lose shape. They retail for 54.99. I paid just under 21$ each for these pillows. #win

One for me, one for Bobby and one for Marco
And lastly, Bobby wanted this bathtub mat for his bathroom because its soft and its the "perfect orange". Its regular price is 50$, I got it for $30.

The last thing I was in the market for was a chopping board. Unfortunately they were all sold out... so I am going to have to buy that online.

Today was a successful shopping day! Now I have to clean up the house and pack some more!

Ringless in Vancouver

Day 339

So I forgot my ring today.... ugh... I dont normally wear my rings at home because Im washing dishes or cooking or playing with the chaoses... etc...

Today, I feel naked :/

Dr. Jenn to the rescue! part two

Day 338

Today I came home to find kiwi freezing her ass off. Surprisingly, chaos, the skinny one, was fine... :/

Anyway, kiwi was cold that she was almost hibernating. Her breathing was slow... all she would do was ball up (no hissing or attempting to bite). Ahhh why do these hedgies always stress me out!!!

So anyway I had to warm kiwi up. First by using my body heat, then a blanket warmed up in the dryer... And finally by placing her over a heater. She's thankfully back to normal again!!

Sunday haul

Day 337

We went for lunch with my family today. We went to Oyama, a sushi restaurant in Coquitlam. It was sooo good :) I forgot that they have a roll similar to the awesome roll in Sushiholic. Looks like we found our go-to sushi place in Coquitlam :)

We hit up Starbucks after lunch for some caffeine
After Starbucks, we went to my mom's house for a bit. Then we hit up Coquitlam Centre to pick up some cleaning things for our big move this weekend (I cannot believe we are finally moving!!!)

I picked this up at Sephora. I love this moisturizer!
I picked this up at Target (It's called "pretty edgy"). Perfect green colour for St. Patty's tomorrow

Big notes for little messages

Day 336

Bobby left me this note yesterday. I didn't actually notice it because the note is written on packing paper and it was placed on top of empty moving boxes (so I thought it was just normal packing paper on empty moving boxes...)

My size 6 ladies foot is stepping on the note to convey its gigantic size

Alice and Olivia for Starbucks

Day 335

I have been wanting one of these super cute Alice and Olivia tuxedo with tutu mug for a while now. Even though I frequented Starbucks A LOT in the last quarter of 2013, I somehow missed the selling of these adorable mugs! I didn't even know about them until seeing them in Youtube videos and blogs just before Christmas season... and by then it was too late to get one at any Starbucks :( They were all sold out.

Now you can get these on ebay or amazon.com... but you'd have to be willing to spend at least 50$ (and maybe more for shipping and possibly even import taxes). I was bummed but decided to move on... until I saw someone selling a brand new still in box mug in downtown for 35$!!

I'll probably just shove this back in the packaging it came because we are moving next weekend and I don't want it to break.

PS: This matches my Kate Spade candle holder (now candle free after I let the candle burn for over 24 hours straight) nicely.

Thursday, 13 March 2014

Woot woot

Day 334

So my co-worker gave me a "rape" whistle today.... you know, a whistle you blow on when someone attacks you.... um.... thanks? Haha

PS: Today marks exactly 11 months since the inaugural blog post of this blog... tomorrow is the final month of my 20s... Where has the time gone?

Chaos forever homeless part two

Day 333

This morning, I found Chaos sleeping under her wheel. #whatatroll

Now, I normally find Chaos sleeping in random places (for Chaos, forever homeless part one, click here).

However, today she was sleeping under her wheel because her fat daughter stole her house!

Bad Kiwi!! This is mommy's house!
Yup... this is Kiwi's extra large empty bedroom.

I pulled Chaos out from under the wheel and let her have Kiwi's house.. but she didn't like it... She actually left immediately and tried to get into her own house...

Here's Chaos trying to get into her house... but failing, because fat Kiwi is in it...
In the end, I made Kiwi go home so Chaos could have her house back... Man my hedgehogs are crazy ;)

PS: I am still allergic to their current shavings so I am silently suffering at work

Tuesday, 11 March 2014

So true!

Day 332

I'm turning 30 in just over a month and this makes me laugh! It's no secret that I no longer hit the clubs or go home at 3/4am on a weekendly basis as much as I did in under grad.... actually I did have several phones pre smartphone era they all had shitty camera phones... but... Facebook didn't exist.

My generation wins ;)

Monday, 10 March 2014

It's that time.of the year again!

Day 331

I love these mini eggs! I haven't had them in years but they are such a good treat for the Easter season!

Sunday, 9 March 2014

Ugh

Day 330

I'm allergic to the chaoses shavings... It.makes my eyes dry and really itchy. So I can't play with kiwi until we get new shavings and give them a bath :(

Sadness!

So Bobby is playing with kiwi on my behalf...

Update:
We didn't get a chance to buy new shavings.. so I still can't play with Kiwi. She must be so happy ;)

Today is the first day back in daylight savings time... ugh... But, Bobby and I met up for lunch with Marco and our friends Janice, Brad and their son Luca. It was good times because Luca is soooo adorable :)

Saturday, 8 March 2014

Sushiholic

Day 329

This is seriously the BEST place to get sushi in the Lower Mainland. They are located on West Broadway and Rupert, so not really close to downtown at all... but its close to Bobby's work! I am moving to suburbia in a couple of weeks so I'm a little bit sad that I will be even further away... but maybe Bobby will be nice and get us some take out ;)

If you ever get a chance to go to Sushiholic, try the awesome roll. It's called awesome roll because it is so freakin awesome!! That's the only roll I get... and I've tried pretty much all of their special rolls.

Bobby likes the awesome roll too :)

Translink cracking down on free riders

Day 328

Today I had a bikini wax appointment in Yaletown (Frilly Lilly is the only place I will ever go to for such services and I cannot recommend this place enough!), at 10 am, and then I had an appointment to get my eyebrows did in downtown (Dona Lucia on Georgia and Richards). I was too lazy to walk to Dona Lucia so I took the Canada Line (one stop over, not worth the 2.75$ but whatever). When I got out at Pacific Centre, the Transit Police and Canada Line staff were checking for tickets for both people getting ON the train and OFF the train. Thankfully, I am too chicken shit/honest to ever ride the Canada Line (or skytrain) for free... so no fine for this lady ;)

I hit up Pacific Centre because I was looking at potential wedding dresses, etc.. still can't find "the one". Now I am home briefly to do some laundry... and am leaving soon to meet an ex-coworker for lunch.

Happy Friday!

Look out world!

Day 327

The already terrible Kiwi is officially entering her terrible twos! Hide your fingers and any other body parts she can bite... and read on if you would like to know more about the world's cutest hedgie.

Kiwi was born on March 6, 2012 (3/6/12!!) so today marks the 2nd year of her existence! Here's some photos of Kiwi (and family) over the past couple years:

The babies at 14 days old
Weighing the baby fatties. Bowser (middle) was always the biggest, then Kiwi was always the middle sized baby and Purdy was always the smallest
Bobbly head Kiwi
Kiwi's first bath
SO CUTE!!
Chaos stealing food from Kiwi (typical Chaos!)
Kiwi thinks that if she can't see others she is "hiding"... silly Kiwi ;)
Angry Kiwi
Kiwi and Chaos hanging out..
Sleepy Kiwi
I've got so many more pictures but don't want the blog to go on and on forever!

Here's little miss Kiwi officially at two years old today:

Kiwi salutes all of you with her left hind leg
Happy birthday Kiwi-Keys!!

My coworker brought this book in today

Day 326

"Peep peep peep" said in the cutest Agnes voice possible

Grazie, Luongo

Day 325 (part 2)

I don't watch hockey as.... intensely (haha) as I did in seasons past, but you would have to be living under a rock somewhere in the Lower Mainland if you are not aware that Roberto Luongo go traded (back) to the Florida Panthers. I think this is great news for him because Vancouver Canucks fans can be rabid, nasty a-holes (and that is putting it nicely). They blame everything on him. Yes, Luongo has his bad games and yes he is being paid a lot of money, but he is also human.. as are his wife and his kids. How upsetting it must be to live in a city that loves to hate your husband/father.

Thanks for putting up with our crazy for 8 seasons, Luongo. For sure you will be happier in Florida :)

Pick taken from the 2009 playoffs (round 1, luongo got a shut out at this game :) )

That awkward moment....

Day 325

...when you've deleted an icon on your phone and you can't remember which one it is.... :/

Update:
After some sleuthing, I discovered that it was my Starbucks icon. It's likely protesting because I haven't gone to Starbucks in a while...

Monday, 3 March 2014

Two of my three loves

Day 324
The third being Chaos!
Here's Kiwi hanging on to Bobby... Kiwi turns two in three days! Where has the time gone?

Sunday, 2 March 2014

Eye drop shortage??

Day 323

Last night, I made lemon chicken for dinner and I got flour in my eyes (ugh!!). And I only had a little bit of eye drops left. So I used what I had and planned on hitting the store this morning...

Side note: I only use preservative free eye drops. I've always had dry eyes and after laser eye surgery, I have had to put drops in them regularly... I found that my eyes were still dry even with drops so a pharmacist recommended preservative free eye drops. Life. Changing. Suggestion.

Anyway, there are only two options I've seen in Vancouver and for whatever reason, they were sold out at London Drugs (on Broadway and Ash) and Save On (Cambie and 7th). Seriously. After hitting two stores, we went home to eat breakfast/lunch and my eyes were sooo itchy. We went to the London drugs on Davie and I finally got drops after lunch and my eyes are finally in recovery.

Happy Sunday :)

Saturday night treats

Day 322

Ice cream and new ketchup flavored Doritos!! I love ketchup chips and I love Doritos... these better be good ;)

Happy March!
